Hours of Work
You shall be required to work from 7 am in the morning to 8 pm in the evening per day and six days in a week depending on the facility's shift system.
Public holidays are not regarded as such for the facility but off-days will be enjoyed by apprentices as and when it is appropriate and communicated by your Master.
Confidential Information
- During your apprenticeship with the facility you will devote your whole time, attention and skills to the best of your ability for the enhancement of the facility.
- You must always maintain the highest degree of confidential information relating to the business/facility which may be known to you or confined in you by any means.
Caution
- You should not receive any payments/gifts from any clients/customers without the consent and concurrence of the Master.
- Breach of any of the clauses above, you will first be entitled to a fair hearing by Master of the facility; if found guilty then will render you liable to summary dismissal, in addition to any other remedy the company may have against you in law court.
Vacation of Post
If you absent yourself from duty without permission from Master for a period amounting to five (5) working days, it simply means that you have automatically vacated your post with the facility.
Discipline
- If you commit an act of indiscipline, then you shall be subjected to disciplinary action by the Master of the facility.
- If you commit an act of indiscipline, then you shall be given the opportunity to exonerate yourself in writing within 48hrs after being queried verbally/in writing.
- Where the answer to the query is not satisfactory, then you shall be given a warning in writing.
- Where two (2) warning letters are issued to you within a period of 12 months, your 3rd warning letter shall terminate your contract.
Acts That Amount to Summary Dismissal
You shall be summarily dismissed by the Master of the facility for:
- Proven dishonesty or fraud, theft or stealing
- Vacation of post
- Any act/acts that are not in conformity with rules and regulations of the facility
- Willful refusal to obey legitimate and lawful institutions
- Persistent drunkenness
- Negligent of duty
- Absenteeism
Grievances Procedure
- You shall be required to report to your immediate Chief Apprentice.
- If you are not satisfied with the decision or ruling of your immediate Chief Apprentice, then you shall take the matter up to the Master of the facility for a final decision.
Offences and Punishment
- Conversion of facility property — It shall be a gross misconduct and tantamount to summary dismissal for you to convert to personal use the facility's property such as money, tools and equipment without approval from Master of the facility.
- Fraudulent claim or fraudulent receipts of money or undue benefit — It is an act of gross misconduct carrying the penalty of summary dismissal for staff knowingly and willfully to claim and receive monies, which they know, they are not entitled to.
- Selling the facility's property and services — This constitutes gross misconduct.
- Taking of alcoholic drinks on duty — It is an offence carrying the penalty of summary dismissal for a worker to attend or to be found at work under the influence of alcohol.
Neglect of Duty
Workers shall be guilty of gross neglect of his/her duties if duties are not performed without lawful or reasonable excuse. This will be liable to summary dismissal.
Offence of Quarreling or Brawling
It is an offence to quarrel or engage in any form of brawling whilst on duty. The punishment for such an offence shall be a warning letter or suspension.
Offence of Fighting
It is an offence carrying the penalty of summary dismissal for an employee to fight, exchange blows or engage in any form of fighting during working hours.
Sexual Misconduct
Punishment: Withdrawal from the facility.
